Compassion in Action: Bringing Medical Hope and Relief to Earthquake Survivors in Myanmar

The people in Myanmar have recently faced the horrifying impact of a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake on 28 March at 1:10 PM local time, with its epicenter just 17 kilometers from Mandalay. It has left unimaginable destruction and despair; entire villages have been leveled, homes reduced to rubble, roads torn apart, and countless lives forever altered. The tragedy has evoked a profound sense of sorrow and led to an urgent call for action to international communities providing support to the victims of the earthquake.

In response to the crisis, HOME DOCTOR Myanmar and ASG Bancorp successfully raised substantial funds from our parent company in Japan and received generous donations from our employees and other individual donors, to initiate its relief activities. We formed an emergency relief team and mobilized its resources to deliver essential supplies directly to the people and communities most in need, demonstrating our commitment to supporting Myanmar’s people in times of crisis and reflecting our core values and dedication to humanity.

Carrying essential medical supplies, including life-saving medications, and hygiene products, alongside food, and shelter materials donated by generous supporters, the team witnessed firsthand the widespread destruction, including collapsed homes, schools and roads. After a long journey, the team arrived in Mandalay and stayed at a local monastery, where they also extended medical donations to the monks and nuns. The following day, the team crossed the damaged Ayeyarwady Bridge to reach Sagaing Hill, where they distributed the medical aid directly to those most in need. One of the volunteer employees said the trip was an intensely emotional experience. “ Seeing the devastation firsthand and knowing that families had lost everything was truly heartbreaking,” he said. “ But when we delivered the medical supplies and saw how we were able to provide immediate relief, we were deeply moved by the gratitude and resilience of the people who have been affected by the earthquake. It reminded me why we are taking this trip —our small acts of compassion can make a significant difference in such challenging times.”
